Funeral services for Louie "Hudge" Hudgens, 68, West Liberty, were held Dec. 16, 1993 at the West Liberty Chapel of Barker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ralph Farmer officiating. Dorothy Mays was the organist and pallbearers were Henry Schaapveld, Dale Lenz, Delbert Lenz, Kenneth Minor, Chad Minor and Harry L. Rogers. Honorary bearers were Thurman Hudgens, Wayne Dallenbach Jr., Michael Dallenbach and Howard Krueger. Burial with military honors, was in the Oak Ridge cemetery.
Mr. Hudgens died Dec. 13 at the Muscatine Care Center, following an extended illness.
The son of Ervin and Sally Williams Hudgens, he was born June 18, 1925 in Startex, S.C. He married Janice L. Schaapveld in Toledo, Wash. Dec. 31, 1956.
Mr. Hudgens was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving 8 years during World War II and the Korean conflict. Following his years in the service, he worked at the Bremerton Naval Shipyard in Washington, retiring in 1974.
The couple moved to West Liberty in 1977.
He is survived by his wife; 2 daughters, Patricia Dallenbach, Elma, Wash. and Sandra Hudgens, Concord, Calif.; 2 grandsons, and one brother, Thurman Hudgens, Greenville, S.C.
