Memorial services for Clara S. Cain, 89, West Liberty, were held Dec. 11, 1993 at the West Liberty Chapel of the Barker Funeral Home. The body has been cremated. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
Clara Cain died Dec. 7 at the Lone Tree Care Center, following an extended illness.
The daughter of Neal and Christina Nealson, she was born Dec. 1, 1904 in Cedar county. She graduated from West Branch high school.
She had lived north of West Liberty since 1944, moving to the nursing home in 1991.
She organized the hot lunch program in the West Liberty schools and later owned and operated the Frigid Queen in West Liberty for 20 years.
Clara Cain was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Rest Awhile Club.
She is survived by 2 sons, Edward "Gene" Cain and Donald "Deac" Cain, both of West Liberty; 2 brothers, Howard and Otto Nelson, both of West Liberty; 2 sisters, Esther Jensen, Hurley, S.D. and Erma Stanley, Austin, Texas; 4 grandsons, Randy, Ron, Terry and Bill; a granddaughter Allison; a great-grandson, Jeremy; and 3 great-granddaughters, Tara, Rachel and Theresa. She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, a brother and 2 sisters.
