Funeral services for Wilfred Thompson, 74, West Liberty, will be held at 11 a.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1993 at the West Liberty Chapel of Barker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Darwin Moore officiating. Les VerHeist is the organist and pallbearers are Charles Bowman, Philip Gilmer, William Thompson, James Jensen, Bill Jensen and Paul Weismann. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery.
Mr. Thompson died Nov. 28 at Mercy hospital in Iowa City, following an extended illness.
The son of Jim and Thyra Thompson, he was born June 28, 1919 in Cedar county. He graduated from West Liberty high school in 1937. He married Margaret Jensen Sept. 21, 1940 in West Liberty.
Mr. Thompson had farmed in the West Liberty area and was a retired hog buyer for Heinold Hog Market Co. He was a member of the Muscatine Moose and Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife; a brother, Donald Thompson, West Branch; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Floyd.
