Funeral services for Dean Birkhofer, 87, Moscow, will be held at 10:30 a.m. today, Wednesday, Nov. 10, 1993 at Lacock-Bently Funeral Home in Wilton, with burial in the Moscow cemetery. Services will be conducted by American Legion Post 584.
Mr. Birkhofer died Nov. 7 at University hospitals in Iowa City.
He married Naomi Kavon in 1977 in Pueblo, Colo. He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. BIrkhofer was a self-employed truck driver. He was previously employed as a meat cutter for 18 years at Oscar Mayer Food Corp., Davenport.
He was a member of the Muscatine Moose Lodge, past commander of the Wilton American Legion, past president and former member of the Wilton Athletic Boosters. He refereed football, baseball and girls' softball, and played in the Old Men's Softball League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all sports. He drove stock cars when he was younger.
Mr. Birkhofer is survived by his wife; 2 sons, Mick and Thomas, both of Bettendorf; 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Donald, Wilton and Harold, Ft. Collins, Colo.
