Funeral services for Carl D. Ervin, 98, Atalissa, were held Nov. 1, 1993 at the West Liberty Chapel of Barker Funeral Home, with the Rev. Keith Speaks officiating. Dorothy Mays was the organist and pallbearers were Scott, Timothy, John, David, Larry and Kenneth Ervin, Tom DeWinter and Russell DeWinter. Burial was in the Oak Ridge cemetery, West Liberty.
Mr. Ervin died Oct. 29 at the Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, following an extended illness.
The son of Alexander and Lena Korthles Ervin, he was born Oct. 17, 1895 in Downey. He married Verona King Nov. 6, 1917. He had farmed in the Atalissa area for over 45 years.
Mr. Ervin is survived by 3 sons, John and Richard, both of Wilton; and Robert, Atalissa; a daughter, Marjorie DeWinter, Rock Island, Ill.; a sister, Margaret Olsen, Aledo, Ill.; 14 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son and 2 brothers.
