Funeral services for Russell J. Moylan, 83, West Liberty, were held Sept. 28, 1993 at the St. Jospeh Catholic church in West Liberty, with the Rev. John Morrisey officiating. Mrs. Patricia Daufeldt was the organist and Heidi and Dan Haessig were acolytes. Pallbearers were Joe Haessig, James Reier, Donald Owen, Jerry Costello, Andy Dereimacker and Wendell Guthort. Burial, with military honors, was in Mt. Calvary cemetery, West Liberty.
Mr. Moylan died Sept. 25 at his home in West Liberty, following an extended illness.
The son of Frank and Myrtle Homer Moylan, he was born Jan. 21, 1910 in West Liberty. He graduated from St. Ambrose Academy in Davenport in 1928 and later attended St. Ambrose College. He married Frances Harney June 14, 1942 in West Liberty.
Mr. Moylan was employed for several years as a railway mail clerk. He later worked at the Alcoa plant, retiring in 1975. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church. He was a railroad buff and a devoted fan of the Chicago White Sox.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Maureen (Mrs. John) Stoops, Davenport; 2 sons, Michael, Ft. Madison and Patrick, Bettendorf; a granddaughter, Molly Moylan and 2 grandsons, Bryan and Kevin Moylan.
