Last rites for Alice E. (Mrs. Willie) Meincke, 88, were here at the Lacock Funeral Home, Durant, Dec. 30, 1991 with the Rev. Bruce Giese officiating. Burial was in the Durant cemetery. Pallbearers were Vince Knoche Jr., Ted Cox, Herschel Fitzer, Gordy Voeltz and Wayne and Gary Meincke. Mabyn Fox was organist and Henry Bentley vocalist. Memorials may be made to the Durant Park Board memorial fund.

Mrs. Meincke died at the Wilton Nursing Home Dec. 26.

The daughter of Adolph and Amelia Brugmann Moeller, she was born near Walcott Dec 24, 1903.

She married Richard Schiele at Middletown. He died Dec. 8, 1941. She married Willie Meincke at Walcott Oct. 23, 1954. He died in May, 1972.

She was a member of the Wilton Presbyterian church, the Durant Senior Citizens, the Durant Park Board and the Merry Widows of Durant. She organized the Durant Garden club in 1938.

She was employed by floral shops in the Wilton-Durant area.

Mrs. Meincke is survived by 2 daughters, Phyllis (Mrs. Vince) Knoche, Wilton and Avon (Mrs. Don) Hopkins, Muscatine; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
