Funeral services for Alice Stiles, 93, West Liberty, were held Sept. 20, 1991 at the West Liberty Chapel of the Barker Funeral Home. Burial was in Overman cemetery, Atalissa.

Alice Stiles died suddenly at her home in West Liberty Sept. 17.

The daughter of William and Marietta Kline Stiles, she was born March 8, 1898 near Atalissa. She attended school in West Liberty and Atalissa and the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

Early in her life she taught in public schools in Lone Tree and elsewhere in Iowa. She was employed later by the Shrine hospitals in Minneapolis and Chicago. After retirement she lived in Florida. One year ago she moved back to West Liberty.

Miss Stiles was a member of the Fern Leaf Chapter, Order of Eastern Star of Lone Tree, and had served as a state officer in the Lodge. She was also a member of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

She is survived by 2 sisters, Rowiena Barkalow, Muscatine and Evelyn Stiles, West Liberty; a brother, Edwin T. Stiles, Odebolt and nieces and nephews.
