Funeral services for Mrs. Kirk (Edith) Grunder, 79, were held at the Wilton United Presbyterian church Oct. 24 with the Rev. G. W. Ukena officiating. Burial was in Oakdale cemetery. Diana Maurer was organist and Max Lauser was vocalist. Nephews and grandchildren were pallbearers.

Mrs. Grunder died at the Simpson Nursing home in West Liberty Oct. 21.

The daughter of Vincent and May James Birkett, she was born in West Liberty Oct 20, 1904. She was married to Kirk Grunder in Iowa City in 1952.

She had taught in the Wilton, Clinton and Birmingham, NY schools. She was a member of the United Presbyterian church, the Order of the Eastern Star in Wilton and the Women's club.

She is survived by 2 sons, Kenneth, Wilton and Kirk J., Pleasant Valley; 20 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and 3 sisters, Ethel Worrell, West Branch and Blanche Birkett and Dorothy Brown, both of West Liberty.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979, a son and a grandchild.
