15 October 2025Lyle D. Parr, 80, of Moorhead, Iowa passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at Pleasant View Care Center, Whiting, Iowa.
A funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. Thursday, October 16, 2025 at the Goslar Funeral Home Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Vicar Russell Stanislav, officiating. A live stream of the service will be posted on the Goslar Funeral Home website with Lyle’s obituary. Burial will follow in the Kennebec Cemetery, Castana, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and the Grimsley – Thayer American Legion Post #502, of Castana, Iowa. A visitation will be 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the Goslar Chapel with a Time of Sharing at 7:00 P.M. Arrangements are under the direction of Goslar Funeral Home and Monuments, Onawa, Iowa.
Lyle Dean Parr was born September 2, 1945 in rural Pisgah, Iowa, the son of Amos “Gene” and Lena (Anderson) Parr. He attended country school in rural Woodbine, Pisgah, and Castana and then attended Moorhead School. Lyle served in the United States Army from April 6, 1966 until his honorable discharge on February 5, 1968. He served in Vietnam and was honored to receive the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Lyle and Arlene Sands were united into marriage and three children were born to this union, Jeff, Amy, and Dwight. The couple later divorced.
Lyle and Betty Brammer were united into marriage on October 2, 1995 in Elk Point, South Dakota.
After the service, Lyle worked as a mechanic for John Deere for several years. Later, he took to the open road, driving trucks throughout the area. He had a passion for collecting tractors and spent countless hours working on and restoring them, a hobby he truly loved.
Lyle was a member of the Grimsley-Thayer American Legion Post #502 of Castana, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Parr; his children, Jeff (Kristie) Parr of Onawa, Iowa, Amy Lingerfelt of Van Cleve, Mississippi, and Dwight Parr of Scribner, Nebraska; grandchildren, Nicholas Parr, Amanda (Dalton) Brown, Jenna (Mason) Perry, Jazmyn Parr, Cayden Parr, Kensington Parr, and Everleigh Parr; great-grandchildren, Colin and Tripp Perry; two brothers, Richard and Peggy Parr of Blencoe, Iowa, and Lynn Parr of Mapleton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Amos “Gene” and Lena (Anderson) Parr; son-in-law, Scott Lingerfelt; and sister-in-law, Eva Parr.
