DANBURY, Iowa - Mrs. Franklin Wenger, 82, of Danbury died Monday at a nursing home in Mapleton.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Danbury. The Rev. Robert Pike will officiate. Burial will be in the Danbury Cemetery.

There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. today at the Walter Funeral Home in Mapleton.

Mrs. Wenger, the former Clara Margaretta Mehrings, was born June 27, 1896, in Fairbury, Ill. where she received her education in rural schools.

She was married June 27, 1919, in Avoca. They farmed in the Avoca area until 1919 when they moved to Danbury. They retired and moved to town in 1961. Mr. Wenger died in 1970. She had resided at the Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton since November of 1974.

She was a longtime member of United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, American Legion Auxiliary and Danbury Federated Club and served as a volunteer blue lady at the Mental Health Institute in Cherokee for many years.

Survivors include two sons, Dean and Earl, both of Danbury; two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Marie) Albertsen and Mrs. George (Helen) Pithan, both of Danbury; a sister, Mrs. Marie Metz of Hoopeston, Ill.; a half sister, Mrs. Hazel Mehrings of Fairbury, Ill.; 10 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.
