Stanley L. Holt, 92, of Soldier, Iowa passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.

Private family memorial graveside services will be held at the Soldier Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Soldier, Iowa with Pastor Marsha Smith, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Stanley LaVerne Holt was born April 24, 1928 in Soldier, Iowa the son of Ole and Esther (Nelson) Holt. He grew up in the Soldier area and graduated from Soldier High School.

Stanley served in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

Stanley and Jane Elinor Grant were united in marriage on May 22, 1949. To this union five children were born, Linda, Deborah, Ronald, Robert, and Peggy.

Stan worked at the locker in Soldier, Iowa and later for the lumber yard in Mapleton, Iowa for several years. He was employed as custodian at East Monona School for many years where he later retired.

Stan enjoyed woodworking, fishing, trapping, and spending time in the outdoors.

He was a member of the Soldier Lutheran Church where he was also the church custodian for a number of years. Stan was also a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his five children, Linda (PK) Koetterheinrich, Deborah Hull, Ronald (Cindy) Holt, Robert (Chris) Holt, and Peggy (David) Adams; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; sister, Sonja (Marvin) Wacker; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane (Grant) Holt; his parents, Ole and Esther (Nelson) Holt; brother, Harold Holt; sister, Agnes (Holt) Squier; and son-in-law, Terry Hull.
