Richard M. Belt, Jr., 65, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 2, 2020, at Burgess Health Center, Onawa, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, April 2, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and the David McNeill American Legion Post #129 of Onawa, Iowa. (Please bring and wear masks). Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Richard Martin Belt was born August 1, 1954, in Marion, Ohio, the son of Richard Martin Belt, Sr. and Delores June (Pickering). He graduated from West Monona High School in 1973. He enlisted into the United States Army and was stationed at Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri, during the Vietnam era until his honorable discharge on October 23, 1973. His Army Reserve obligation ended on December 21, 1978.
He was united in marriage to Karen Jean (Hopkins) Belt on January 1, 1976, in Danbury, Iowa.
Richard worked various jobs including: truck driver, hauling livestock and “junking iron”. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He found enjoyment being on his CB Radio and his Handle was “Chase One”.
He was a member of the N.R.A. and a lifetime member of the American Hunters Association. Richard and Karen owned and operated B & B Bait in Onawa.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Karen Belt of Onawa, Iowa; his three children, Adam (Isie) Belt of Sioux City, Iowa, Paul (Laura) Belt of Corydon, Iowa and John Belt of Onawa, Iowa; five grandchildren, Dillan Belt, Brenda Arrington, Adien Belt, Riliegh Belt, and Kaleb Belt; one great-grandchild, Ava Belt; one sister, Deb (Tom) Parks of Boonville, MO; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Martin Belt, Sr. and Delores June (Pickering); and one daughter Kelly.
