Jon T. Jacobson, age 44, of Mapleton, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021, at his residence of Mapleton, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2021, at the St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Mapleton, Iowa. Rev. Chris LaBoube will officiate. Committal will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery of Mapleton, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 5, 2021, at the Armstrong-Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jon Jacobson memorial fund that has been established at Security National Bank, 313 N 4th Street, Mapleton, IA 51034.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks are encouraged and social distancing rules apply during all services. The Armstrong - Van Houten Funeral Home of Mapleton, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Jon Thomas Jacobson, the son of Bruce and Rose (Ladwig) Jacobson, was born on September 29, 1976, in Onawa, Iowa. He was raised in Mapleton, Iowa and received his education from Maple-Valley High School graduating with the class of 1995. After high school Jon attended Minnesota West Community College graduating in 1997 with a degree as an electrician.

On September 30, 2000, Jon was united in marriage to Nicole Collison. To this marriage they had two daughters: twins Natalie and Caitlyn. From 1990 to 2015 Jon was employed at Jacobson Lumber. He started out putting away lumber and later building homes and buildings. After Jacobson Lumber closed their doors, Jon started working at Midwest Industries in Ida Grove in the maintenance department.

Jon was the greatest fan to his daughters. He enjoyed helping people with various carpentry projects. He also enjoyed camping, fishing, playing corn hole, attending his daughters’ various sports games, and being with his family. Jon was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Mapleton. Jon was a great person who instantly made friends and was eager to help everyone. He always had a smile on his face and made everyone laugh. Jon was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Left to embrace their loving memories of Jon include his daughters Caitlyn and Natalie Jacobson of Whiting, IA; father Bruce Jacobson of Mapleton, IA; brothers Scott (Andrea) Jacobson of Mapleton, IA and Brandon (Taylor) Jacobson of Sioux City, IA; nieces Marli and Jalee; nephews Avery and Liam; grandmothers Fern Jacobson of Mapleton, IA and Helen Ladwig of Battle Creek, IA; along with many other extended family members and countless wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Rose Jacobson; brother Thomas Jacobson; grandfathers Melvin Ladwig and Robert Jacobson.
