Wesley James Lloyd
October 12, 1977 ~ June 4, 2021 (age 43)

Wesley James Lloyd, 43, of Sloan, Iowa, passed away, Friday, June 4, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family. He recently came home after recovering from a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2021, at the Community Church of Christ in Sloan with Pastor Kody Killian and Pastor Gary DeGeest officiating. Burial will follow in the Willow Township Cemetery, rural Holly Springs. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 7, with a 7 p.m. prayer service officiated by Pastor Rich Moore at the Rush Family Chapel in Onawa, Iowa.

Born October 12, 1977, in Onawa, Wes is the son of James E. and Charis Lloyd. He was a graduate of Westwood High School in Sloan, Rebel class of 1996, and a member of the United Methodist Church in Hornick where he lived during his childhood years. Iowa was his lifetime home state.

Since his first souped-up Big Wheels car at age 3, Wes enjoyed all things Ford. Modifying cars for himself and others was great fun. He also liked to watch auto racing where he cheered for the guy driving a Ford. Wes was known for his electronics hobby where he scoped out the latest tech from phones and TVs to stereo systems in vehicles.

Wes loved watching all sports and was an avid fan of Michael Jordan and the Iowa Hawkeyes. Many nights were spent playing darts, swimming, or playing in a pool league. He knew how to host a gathering, creating recipes for new meals and drinks.

Wes’ network of numerous friends and his family knew him as a strong, positive person that could easily find ways to improve projects and jobs. He described himself as a “hard-working, trustworthy leader looking to get the job done.” He wanted to find ways to make things easier.

At the time of his hospitalization, Wes was an employee of Sioux City Ford Lincoln where he worked in auto sales. He had also worked in the service department, accessory sales, and as a manager. Skilled at crowd control, business functions and human resources, he also had experience with building maintenance, forklift operation, Bobcat, and scissor lifts.

Most importantly, Wes was a supportive uncle that actively took part in each of nieces’ and nephew’s lives. He was a teacher, a motivator, and a spectator.

Survivors include his parents, James E. and Charis Lloyd; two sisters, Wendy Lloyd and Kerry (Rich) Lamoureux; nieces and nephew, Jordyn Lamoureux, Elijah Lamoureux, and Alivia Lloyd; and special friend, Jodi Jacoby.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James E. and Gail Lloyd and Dennis and Evelyn Hall.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa.
