Gary Koster, the son of George and Ruth (Poer) Koster, was born September 16, 1931 in St. Ansgar, Iowa where he grew up and attended school. He graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1949. During high school and following graduation he worked for Wes and Lavone Eggleston in the St. Ansgar Candy Kitchen. In 1951, he entered the United States Air force, serving with the 31st Air Division and the 7280th Stock Control Squadron in Minneapolis, MN and Casablanca, Morocco. Following his honorable discharge in 1954, he attended railroad telegraphers school and entered into business.

On June 10, 1956, he was united in marriage to Norma Loeschen at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in St Ansgar. After their marriage he sold his business and attended Austin Junior College and Mankato State University where he graduated in 1959, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. Gary began his teaching career in Rapidan, MN and then moved to Worthington, MN where he taught at the junior and senior high schools until he retired in 1992. He was a Deacon and Elder of the church and had served as Treasurer of Golden K Kiwanis.

Gary passed away on August 2, 2021, at his home in Worthington, MN. Gary is survived by two daughter, Deanna Rowe and Angela (Paul) Sorenson, and grandchildren, Zachary Warfel, Nichole Rowe, Brandon Rowe, and Oliver Jabonski. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma; parents; brothers, George, Robert, and Jack; sister-in-law, Regina (Fix), Bernice (Busse), and Shirley (Mouw), and nephews, Jeff and Steven Koster.

Private family services will be held.

Benson Funeral Home in Worthington.

The graveside burial service for Gary and Norma Koster will be held at the St. Ansgar Cemetery September 25, 2021.
