MRS. HOMER I. STACY DIES

Amelia L. Donaldson was born in Guilford, New York, July 1, 1823 and died at Osage, Iowa, April 5, 1908, being nearly 85 years of age. Her father, Rev. Asa Donaldson, was a Presbyterian minister of Scotch ancestry.

She was one of a family of eleven children, only one brother survives -- Erasmus H. Donaldson of Ashton, Illinois.

She was united in marriage with Homer I. Stacy, July 1, 1846, in Dover, Illinois, to which place her father's family removed in 1839. In 1855 she with her husband and four children sought a home in what was then the far west, settling first at Mitchell, Iowa, and the following spring her husband platted the village which at th esolicitation of many friends, named Stacyville and here she sheerfully shared with her husband the privations incident to pioneer life, taking a motherly interest in all, to the extent that in the early days she was called the "Mother of Stacyville." She made Stacyville her home until the death of her husband which occurred in 1887 with the exception of four years (from 1869 to 1873) when they resided in Mitchell. In the fall of 1887, she, with her daughters, Delia and Frances removed to Osage and for 21 years has lived a quiet, but useful life.

She leaves six children, two having preceded her, the oldest son dying in infancy and the second son B. Fitch Stacy, at the age of 40. The remaining children, Mrs. Geo. Wall of Early, Oregon, Mrs. Edmund Stacy and Misses Delia and Frances Stacy of Osage, Mrs. H. Reeves of Northfield, Minnesota, and one son, Asa I. Stacy of Stacyville, all of whom were present to care for her during the last days of her illness, with the exception of her daughter in Oregon.

Mrs. Stacy also leaves 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Stacy lived a truly noble Christian life. . . .
