FEATHER, SCHROEDER, SWYTER

Hattie Feather, 87, of Riceville, died on Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at the St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minnesota, after an extended illness.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., on Monday, May 20, at the Riceville United Methodist Church. Rev. Michael Carey officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Britt, with graveside rites at 2:00 p.m.

Feather was born in Britt, Iowa. on January 29, 1925, to William G. and Anna C. Schroeder Swyter. She attended a country school and graduated from the Britt High School in 1932. She furthered her education by attending the Britt Junior College and going on to receive a B.A. Degree in Education from Upper Iowa University in Fayette, Iowa in 1969. Hattie was united in marriage on July 17, 1938 in Pennsylvania to Eugene Feather.

Hattie taught social studies for 22 years in the Riceville School System and was an active member of the Riceville United Methodist Church, where she served as financial secretary for 10 years and was secretary and leader of UMW She was a leader in 4-H clubs and enjoyed quilting.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Eugene in 1990; four brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary (Kenny) McRoberts and one son, Bill (Lila) Feather, both of LeRoy, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Dave (Stacey) McRoberts of Byron, Minnesota, Clint McRoberts, Dan Feather, Brenda (Jason) Hofner, all of LeRoy, Minnesota; seven great-granddaughters; and one brother, Bill Swyter of Humboldt, Iowa.

The Lindstrom Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
