Former Orchard
Man, J. Eldridge
Killed In Oregon

John Eldridge, 40, son of Mrs. John Eldridge Sr. was killed at Port Angeles, Wash. March 15 according to word received by John's half-brother W. A. Brown of Orchard.

The accident happened when John was driving a semi-trailer logging truck. Mrs. Eldridge, his widow, who wrote of the accident says that she was with her husband and when he lost control of the truck, jumped to safety, but John was caught by the trailer on the truck and a wheel passsed over his chest crushing it.

John was born in Orchard. He left here about twenty years ago to enlist in the navy; later settled at Port Angeles, as his parents had moved there in the meantime. His father died soon after his enlistment.

He is survived by his widow, their four sons, and his sisters, Iva and Myrtle, in California, and Florence, who is in the south.

Another sister, Helen died a number of years ago; also his mother at Port Angeles.

John visited his relatives and old friends in Orchard and Osage three years ago.
