Obituary

Elaine Kay Hannam, age 63, of St. Ansgar, Iowa, passed away Friday afternoon, April 17, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Health System – St. Marys Campus in Rochester, Minnesota.

She was born on June 17, 1956 and raised by Wayne and Rose (Madson) Helgeson. Elaine grew up in Lyle and graduated from Lyle High School in 1974. She married David Hannam in 1973 and the couple later divorced.

Elaine went on to earn an X-Ray Technician Degree from Riverland Community College in Austin, Minnesota. Elaine worked as an X-Ray Technician at Osage Memorial Hospital for many years and then went to work for Mayo Health Systems – Austin Campus. Elaine was a member at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Lyle, Minnesota. Her hobbies included gardening and planting her flowers. Elaine enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Elaine will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Elaine was preceded in death by her mother, Rose Helgeson. She is survived by her father, Wayne Helgeson of Austin, Minnesota; a son, Chris (Karen) Hannam of Council Bluffs, Iowa, a daughter, Heather Hannam of Austin, Minnesota; four grandchildren; Alex, Ethan, Carter and Lucas, two brothers, Denny (Ann) Helgeson of Lyle, Minnesota and David (Deb) Helgeson of Rochester, Minnesota and many other wonderful relatives and friends.

A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
