Obituary --

Stacyville, Iowa – Marietta May Steward, 83, of Stacyville, passed away at her home after an extended illness on Sunday, June 9, 2019.

Funeral service will be Monday, June 17, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Toeterville, with Rev. Lance Kittleson officiating. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home, St. Ansgar, and one hour prior to service at the church on Monday. Burial will be at First Lutheran Cemetery.

She was born on April 24, 1936, in Mitchell, Iowa to Ralph and Edith (Powell) Duncomb.

She graduated from high school in Mitchell, Iowa, and from St. Mary’s in Rochester, Minnesota with a Diploma in Nursing.

She worked as a Registered Nurse for 44 years.

She was married to LeRoy Steward for 61 years and they raised four children. Together they hosted four foreign exchange students and 11 Vietnamese refugees.

Marietta is survived by her: husband, LeRoy; daughters, Jean (Greg) Wilt, Susan (David) Poole, Carol (Matt) Moberg; son, Thomas (Jocelyn) Steward; grandchildren, Jamie Wilt, Robert Wilt, Nicholas Espiritu; brothers, Richard (Pat) Duncomb, Robert Duncomb, Lawrence (Mary) Duncomb; sister, Janet Erickson; numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Edith Duncomb; brother, Kenneth Duncomb; and sisters, Grace Nelson and Laura Hoverson.

She was a lifelong Iowan and her love of children, music and nature will live on in the ones who loved her.
