Ellen R. Besch (1916-2009)
RICEVILLE - Ellen Ruth Besch, 93, of Reinbeck, formerly of Elma and Charles City, died Saturday, Dec. 26, at Parkview Manor Nursing Home, Reinbeck.
She was born Jan. 24, 1916, in Belmond, daughter of Rudolph and Gertrude Tjaden Saatoff. On Sept. 13, 1939, she married John Joseph Besch at Ledyard. He died in 1959.
Mrs. Besch graduated from high school in Burt in 1934 and she attended NICC, Calmar, in 1971 for nursing. She and her husband farmed west of Elma. She moved to Charles City in 1974 where she was employed by the Salsbury Baptist Nursing Home as a licensed practical nurse.
Survived by: a daughter, LaRee (Wade) VanHauen of Reinbeck; and two grandchildren.
Preceded in death by: a sister, Bernice Dogotch; and two brothers, Ervin and Lloyd Saatoff.
Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Conway Funeral Home, with burial later in Riverside Cemetery, both in Riceville. Public visitation for an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
