STACYVILLE, IOWA - Elizabeth S. May, 87, of Stacyville, Mitchell county, Iowa, died on Friday (Sept. 12, 2008) at the Stacyville Nursing Home.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, Sept. 15, at 11 a.m. at Visitation Catholic Church, Stacyville, with the Rev. John Moser officiating. Burial will be in the Visitation Cemetery.

Elizabeth was born July 27, 1921, to Anton and Gertrude (Simon) Halbach in Stacyville. She graduated from Visitation Academy, Stacyville. During World War II she worked for the Navy Department in Washington, D.C.

Returning to Stacyville, she worked for Ralph Wolf Insurance, Wagner Insurance (for 35 years) and the Stacyville Monitor. She was a member of the National Catholic Order of Foresters, the American Legion Auxiliary and a lifetime member of Visitation Catholic Church.

She married F.J. (Sonny) Brown on Oct. 20, 1943, he died in 1975. She married Albert May on Oct. 10, 1980.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, F.J. Brown; two brothers, Cornelius and Ronald; sister, Priscilla; and daughter, Paulette Ann Harrer.

She is survived by her husband; Albert; children, Carol (David) Hopkey, Tony (Sharon) Brown, Eileen (Dan Palmer) Rosenberg, Marian (Mike) Hegland; step children, Sherilyn (Bob) Thome, Paula (David) Prescott, Marcia (Jack) Seip, Dennis (Liz) May; 10 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren.

Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home of St. Ansgar is in charge of arrangements.
