SHELDON, ELDRICH

Fred Sheldon located in Osage in 1874. He was born in Walworth Co., Wis., Aug. 17, 1849, being the son of Thomas R. and Mary (Eldrich) Sheldon. The father was a native of Schenectady, N. Y. In 1841 he removed with his family to Kenosha,Wis., where he engaged in the grocery busi­ness.

Frederick remained with his par­ents until fifteen years of age when he went to Chicago, where he was employed as clerk, after which he attended the Chi­cago University three years, when he went to Milwaukee and entered the office of L. J. Merrick, remaining one year, then he entered the office of J. V. V. Platt, af­ter which he attended the law department of the State University of Wisconsin, and was admitted to the bar in the spring of 1874. Soon after which he came to Iowa, settling in Osage and prosecuting his profession. He is a lawyer of fine ability. He is a member of the Masonic order and a Knight Templar. Mr. Sheldon was married at Glenwood, Minn., Sept. 25, 1883, to Hattie E. Loomis.
