Jacob Brown is a native of Bavaria, Germany, born in March, 1850. He came to America in 1852. Landing at New York, he came directly to Milwaukee, where he lived eight years. He followed farming in Wisconsin twenty-four years. He came to Mitchell Co., Iowa, in 1876, settling on section 16, Stacyville township, where he owns eighty acres of good land under excellent cultivation and well improved. He makes a specialty of stock raising. Mr. Brown was married in 1872 to Franciska Sharer, born in Bavaria, Germany, in 1852. By this marriage they have six children—Barbara, Henry, Bonapart, Valentine, John and Frank J. The family are all connected with the Roman Catholic Church.
