Anna Marie Johnson was born October 11, 1850 at Columbia, Wisconsin to Annie Nelsdatter (b February 3, 1813 Hordaland, Norway, d August 3, 1897 Lincoln, Washington) and Nels N. Johnson (b January 30, 1820 Hordaland, Norway, d August 1855 Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa), the sixth of their seven children.
Anna had five older siblings who were all born at Hordaland, Norway and used the Johnson or Johnsen surname:
Johan Nikolai Johnson (1851-1902), Martha Nielsdatter (1842-1906), Nels N Johnson (1844-1926), Martha Nielsdatter (1846-1912), Torris Nels (1848-1913), and
one younger brother, Andreas Johnson (b abt 1852 Wisconsin, d before 1856 Mitchell, Iowa).The family moved in 1854 to Cedar, Mitchell, Iowa.
She was found in the 1860 census at Mitchell, Mitchell, Iowa living with her mother and her mother's 2nd husband Holden Peterson Maakestad. Recorded as Mary Peterson but don't think she was adopted by Holden.
Anna Marie was confirmed in 1865 at the First Lutheran Church at St Ansgar, Mitchell, Iowa.
She married Ole N. Thompson on April 10, 1870, at Mitchell County, Iowa. The couple had nine children:
Chester Niels( b Nov 1871 Minnesota); Gunhild (b abt 1874 MN, d Lincoln, Washington); Anna Oline (b March 22, 1876, Baptism: 1876, London Lutheran Church, Worth County, IA); Lydia (b July 1878 Iowa, married July 17, 1906 to Franklin John Kunz at Washington, d 1936, see Findagrave #106177397); Cornelia (b October 1881 Pembina, Dakota Territory, d Lincoln, Washington); Jonetta (b Sept 1883 North Dakota); Mabel J ( b Nov 1885 North Dakota); Henrietta (b November 1887, d 1937 Olympia, Washington); and Kaspar (b December 24, 1890 Lincoln, Washington).Found in the 1880 census living at Drayton, Pembina, Dakota Territory: Ole Thompson 34, Gun Maria Thompson 30, Neils Chester Thompson 8, Gunal Thompson 7, Lena Thompson 4, Leda Thompson 1.
Found in the 1900 census at Columbia, Lincoln, Washington: Ole Thompson 54, Anna W. Thompson 49, Chester N. Thompson 28, Anna O. Thompson 24, Lydia Thompson 21, Cornelie Thompson 18, Jonetta Thompson 16, Mabel J. Thompson 14, Heneryethra Thompson 12, Kasper Thompson 9.
Anna Marie Johnson Thompson died March 17, 1904 at Lincoln, Washington and was buried at the Sherman Cemetery, Lincoln, Washington beside her husband and some children.
