Thursday, December 6th, 1900Rose J. Clarkson was born June 23, 1869 in Henry County, Iowa and moved to Mills County in 1876 where with the exception of ten months she has since lived. She was married to Charles E. Roland February 14, 1889 and died Nov. 30, 1900.
She united with the Methodist Episcopal church at Hillsdale, when but fifteen years of age, of which church she was a member at the time of her death. She leaves a husband, five children, the youngest a little past two years of age, father, mother, three brothers and three sisters to mourn her death. A sister having died just one year ago, No, 30 1899.
Death was anticipated by Mrs. Roland and her family, but it was a sad parting nevertheless, rendered especially so by reason of the little children left to face the realities of a practical world without the sympathy and love of a mother’s heart. She loved her family, but the Master called and obedient to that summons with full confidence and trust in Jesus as her personal Savior, she passed where suffering is never known. The funeral was conducted from the home by Rev. A. E. Slothower, pastor of the Methodist church in Malvern. Interment took place in the Malvern Cemetery.
