Rick Roberts, 60, of Knoxville, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2009, at the Pella Regional Health Center.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2009, from 3- 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 – 8 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Reverend Joel Picard officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Rick was born On November 27, 1949, in Knoxville to Leland and Justine (Toy) Roberts. Rick grew up in Knoxville, where he attended and graduated from the Knoxville High School in 1968. He then attended Ellsworth Junior College in Iowa Falls for two years.

On June 28, 1969, he married Jona Schrader at Trinity Lutheran Church in Knoxville. The couple lived in Iowa Falls while he attended school. The couple moved back to Knoxville in June of 1970, and he enlisted into the National Guard. He was discharged in 1976. In August of 1982, they moved to Adel until 1988, when they returned to Knoxville. He worked at SuperValu, Inc in the warehouse until he retired in 2002. He later worked at the gas station for Jim Darnell for two years. In 2004, he began working at Pine Knolls Country Club and Williams Funeral Home until July of this year.

Rick was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, past President and current Treasurer of the Lions Club, Knoxville Alumni Association, and previous member of the Adel Kiwanis Club. Rick was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes as well as the New York Yankees.

Rick is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jona of Knoxville, IA, daughter, Kelly Srader of Newton, IA; son, Ryan & wife Sara Roberts of Knoxville, IA; five grandchildren, Jacob Roberts, RJ Roberts, Justin Vancenbrock, Reese Roberts, Regan Roberts, and one brother, Randy Roberts of Knoxville, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leland & Justine Roberts and grandparents, Herman & Maudie Roberts, and Harry & Helen Toy.

Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church or Hospice of Pella.
