Alma Ruth Camden was born October 23, 1936 in Moulton, Iowa the daughter of Joseph Dewey Selvy and Nellie Mae (Olmstead) Selvy.

She was raised in the Moulton area and graduated from the Moulton-Udell High School with the Class of 1956. Following high school, Alma worked at the overall factory in Oskaloosa.

On July 2, 1960 she was united in marriage to William Ray Camden in Princeton, Missouri. The couple made their home in Knoxville; Bill worked at the V.A. Medical Center and Alma worked at the La Petite Restaurant. In 1966 Alma started work at the V.A.; she retired in 1994 as the Food Service Supervisor. She also worked in the Knoxville School System Kitchen from 20˜05-2007.

Through the years, Alma was very active in the Order of Eastern Star Chapter No. 85; she enjoyed Eastern Star and the many friends she made over the years. The First Baptist Church was Alma and Bill's church home the entire time they lived in Knoxville.

In her spare time, Alma enjoyed ceramics, scrapbooking and going for a good drive. She loved to socialize and visit with her many friends, especially her dear friend, the late Phyllis Weldon. Her greatest joy in life was her family; she cherished the time she hand with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alma passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2009 at the Iowa Methodist Medical center at the age of 73 years, 1 month and 19 days.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 1997 and five siblings, Gordon Selvy, Lowell Selvy, Wanda Welch, Mary Nance and Robert Selvy.

Those left to honor her memory include her children: Connie (Charles) Stevens of Battlement Mesa, Colorado; William (Carol) Camden of Burnsville, Minnesota; Tammy (Patrick) Stuart of Kansas City, Missouri and Randy Camden of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lois (Dean) Lewin of Knoxville, Linda (Merle) Wernhoff of Moberly, Missouri, Wayne (Judy) Selvy of Warsaw, Missouri and Fern Meeker of Moulton, Iowa and many other family members and dear friends.
