Pauline Alice Pitt was born December 13, 1919 in Tulsa, Oklahoma the daughter of Joel and Martha (Willhite) Knebel.

She was raised in Tulsa and graduated from Tulsa Central High School with the Class of 1938.

On October 14, 1939 she was united in marriage to Robert Dale Pitt in Tulsa. The couple made their home in Knoxville and enjoyed 69 years of marriage.

During their retirement years, Bob and Pauline lived in Knoxville, as well as Arkansas for a few years, before moving to Mill Pond Retirement Community, in Ankeny, six years ago. Bob passed away on February 5, 2008.

Pauline worked for the Marion County Recorder's
Office for several years, and then for Johnson, Jordan & Lane Law Office, where she retired after 15 years.

She was a devoted member of the First Assembly of God Church for 69 years. She was active in the church and played the piano and organ for many years.

Pauline passed away on Friday, July 24, 2009 at the Mill Pond Retirement Community at the age of 89 years, 7 months and 11 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Cleo and her husband, Bob.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Donald Dean (Dawnetta) Pitt of Marshalltown, Robert Joe (Linda) Pitt of Bondurant; grandchildren, Renee (Pat) Sporleder of Altoona, Terri Murray of Johnston, Shawna (Michael) Johansen of Bondurant, Ryan (Courtney) Pitt of Stet, MO, Megan Pitt (Mark Mangum) of Altoona; 5 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Sporleder, Tayler Murray, Blake Murray, Liam Johansen and Brock Pitt; sister, Virginia Hunter and a brother, Morris Knebel both of Tulsa, OK.
