Delbert David Kingery was born August 12, 1923 in Marion County, Iowa, the son of David and Elva (Brewer) Kingery.

Delbert enlisted in the army in April of 1945 where he served 7 ½ years. The majority of his time served was in the Occupation Army in Austria and Germany. He also served 1 year in Korea where he received the bronze star.

Following an honorable discharge, Delbert worked at the V.A Hospital in Knoxville, Maytag in Newton and also Mahaska Farm Service. In the early 70’s Delbert retired on disability.

He was united in marriage to Pauline Birkey of Manson, Iowa on July 14, 1961, and to this union one son, Michael John was born.

Delbert passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 at the West Ridge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the age of 85 years, 5 months and 10 days.

He is survived by his wife, Pauline; son, Michael (Nancy) Kingery; a granddaughter, Amber and grandson, Brett all of Peoria, IL.

Burial: Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, IA
