Hazel Frances Mesecher was born October 14, 1913 in Valley Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Lydia (Lewin) King.

At a young age she moved with her family to the Swan area. Hazel graduated from Swan High School with the class of 1932.

On January 20, 1934 she was united in marriage to William Euel Mesecher, to this union four children were born; Barbara Janette, William Dale, Richard Darrell and Linda Jean.

Hazel and Bill lived and raised their children in Swan until moving their family to Pleasantville. Hazel worked as a cook at the Pleasantville Schools until her retirement. Following retirement Bill and Hazel enjoyed traveling in their camper all over the United States.

She was an excellent seamstress, crocheting and formal wear were her specialties. Hazel also enjoyed teaching Sunday School, cooking at summer camp, crossword puzzles and ceramics.

She was a member of the Eastern Star.

Hazel passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 95 years, 3 months and 4 days.

She was preceded in death by her husband, son, William Dale and a granddaughter, Cathy.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Clark (Dennis) and Janette Raney, son, Richard Mesecher (Cecelia) and a daughter-in-law, Sue Mesecher all of Pleasantville and a sister-in-law, Valeria Smith of Knoxville, 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great grandchildren and 3 great-great great grandchildren.
