Gordon Dale Brown was born January 8, 1926 in Jasper County, Iowa, the son of Perry and Letha (Nearmeyer) Brown.

He was a lifetime Iowa resident, attending school in both Jasper and Marion County. Gordon was united in marriage to Willa C. Brubaker on July 5, 1947, to this union; twin sons Darwin and Duane were born.

He spent his working years as a farmer in Marion County. He also worked at Maytag, the Knoxville School System and Theatre, public housing and the V.A. Child Care Center.

Gordon was a member of the Morning Kiwanis Club and also the First United Methodist Church.

He passed away on December 30, 2008 at West Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 22 days.

Gordon was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter-in-law, Dixie (Beller) Brown.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Willa; sons, Duane (Barbara) of Knoxville, Darwin (Joan) of Indianola; three grandchildren, Kevin (Angie) Brown and Jennifer (Nick) Johnston of Indianola, Kristi Brown of Altoona; three great-grandchildren, Zachary and Cassie Brown, Kaden Johnston; two brothers, Lloyd Brown of Pleasantville and Glen Brown of Knoxville, and many other relatives and friends.

Burial: Graceland Cemetery, Knoxville, IA
