Amanda Vera, daughter of Della and Henry Jacobs, was born in Clarke County Oct. 23, 1894, and departed this life at the state hospital in Clarinda, December 30, 1946, at the age of 52 years, two months and 47 days.

She was united in marriage to Frank Scott in Osceola July 12, 1913.

Although she had no children of her own she had cared for several of her nieces and nephews at various times.

Kenneth Miller, a nephew who is now serving in the navy at Yokosuka, Japan, spent the last three years of his high school days in her home.

She was preceded in death by her mother, father, one sister and one brother.

Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her departure two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Emory of Winnebago, Minn., and Mrs. Jennie Whitehead of Blue Earth, Minn., and one brother, E. J. Jacobs of Madalia, Minn, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Kale Funeral Home, Thursday, January 2, conducted by Rev., R. F. Sturgell, pastor of the Methodist church. Burial was made in the Hartman cemetery.
