On September 20th of 2025 at the Azria nursing home in Winterset, IA, Joanne M Thompson passed away peacefully. Services will be at the Earlham Presbyterian Church on October 25th, 2025, at 11:00 am officiated by Pastor Robert Waldron and luncheon will follow after services at the church.
On July 18th, 1930 Isaac & Mary Albright were blessed with a baby girl named Joanne Mary Albright. Born in Beaverdale, IA, where she grew up and graduated from Roosevelt High School. She then went to Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri.
Her dad bought her a horse, and she went out to see the horse one day and that's when she saw the love of her life Raymond Thompson Jr., a few years later they were married on March 17th, 1957 at the Westminster Presbyterian church in Des Moines, Iowa. They lived in Palmyra, Iowa until they moved to Earlham, Iowa on the farm in 1961. That's when they started the dairy farm. Joanne milked the cows until 1987, then she was a cook at the Earlham nursing home and then a librarian at the Earlham library. After she retired, she kept up with gardening and taking care of her flowers and her collie dog Lady. She always enjoyed played the piano.
She is survived by her son's Michael (Kristi ) Thompson of Omaha, and Matthew (Leslie) Thompson of Earlham; Grandchildren, Anne (Brian) Headley of Omaha, Emily (Nate) Olson of Omaha, Melissa (Hiue) Shreffler of Ankeny, Kyle (Melissa) Thompson of Des Moines, Kelly (Doni Jo ) Pierce of Panora, Jessica (Jeremy) Jones of Altoona, Kaleb (Ellie) Farber of Madrid; Great grandchildren Lilli, William, Owen, Henley, Harlow all from Omaha, Madilyn, Delaney, Jace, all from Ankeny, Sophia, Averie, Kinlee all from Des Moines, Rileigh, Dakota both from Panora, Jayden of Waukee, Matthew, Layla, Violet all from Madrid, Cadiance, Abigail, Sydney, Michelle all from Altoona.
Preceded in death is her husband Raymond Thompson Jr., her brother William and Toki Albright, and parents Isaac and Mary Albright.
