Keith DeWitt, 89, of Gladbrook, IA, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, IA.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the Gladbrook United Methodist Church. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m., until the time of the services, at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gladbrook Chapel of Anderson Funeral Homes. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Gladbrook-Lincoln Ambulance Service. Keith Holmes DeWitt was born June 23, 1929, to Albert and Fontella (Holmes) DeWitt in Winterset, IA. He attended and graduated from Peru High School in Madison County.

Keith proudly served in the U.S Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged as a Corporal. On December 25, 1950, he was united in marriage to Lucy Vonasek in Lorimor, IA. To this union, four children were born: Cheri, Mike, Debra, and Susan.

Keith and Lucy owned and operated DeWitt TV and Appliance from 1960 to 1985 and Lucy's Tole from 1980 until retirement in 2014. He was a member of Gladbrook United Methodist Church and on the church Ad Council. Keith was active in the American Legion Post 127 for 63 years, served as the Mayor of Gladbrook for four years, Gladbrook City Council for eight years, and on the Gladbrook School Board for four years. He was an American Rabbit Breeder and awarded Lifetime Membership.

Keith raised eight to ten different breeds of rabbits for 20 years and judged rabbit shows for several years. His hobbies included fishing trips to Minnesota every summer with his family and spending time with all of his grandchildren.

Keith is survived by his loving wife, Lucy DeWitt; his four children, Cheri (Doug) Lundin of Beaverton, OR, Mike (Barb) DeWitt of Gladbrook, Debra Johnson of Gladbrook, and Susan (Jeff) Vajgrt of Marshalltown, IA; 14 grandchildren: Jeff, Andy, Alanna, Josh, Becky, Beth, Dan, Carrie, Abby, Sam, Emily, Alex, Ben, and Chelsea; five great grandchildren: Beau, Charlie, Codi Mae, Jack, and Cade; and a sister, Cathy Kelly of Urbandale, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna Meyers; and a son in law, Gary Johnson.
