Evelynn Jean Miller, second child born to Franklin William Miller and Mildred Josephine (Allen) Miller was born August 1, 1944 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life, suddenly at her home in Osceola, Iowa, Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 77 years of age.

Evelynn grew up on the Miller Family Farm south of St. Mary’s, Iowa. She attended St. Mary’s Consolidated School through her sophomore year, when school reorganization sent her to New Virginia her Junior year and she graduated from Interstate 35 High School in Truro, Iowa, being the first class to graduate from the school in 1962. Following graduation, she worked for Equitable Life Insurance in Des Moines until 1963.

Evelynn was married to Lavere Russell and they had three children, Carla, Jim and Lisa. She worked for Look Magazine in Des Moines before becoming a stay at home Mom. They later divorced and Evelyn has been a resident of Osceola, Iowa for many years. Evelynn worked for Burgus Shoe Store and 1985 she started working for Robinson's Department Store and in 2000 she began working for HyVee in Osceola. She has been retired for several years.

Evelynn enjoyed crocheting, sewing, cooking and photography. She was an active member of the Osceola Lions Club, serving many club positions and attending state conventions. She helped collect glasses and hearing aids from the local community.

Those relatives who preceded Evelynn in death were her parents, Frank and Mildred Miller, and infant brother Franklin William Miller Jr.

Evelynn is survived by her children, Carla, Jim, and Lisa, sister, Carolynn Miller of St. Charles, IA, friend, Charles "Chuck" Snell of Osceola, IA as well as other relatives and many friends.

Graveside services will be held on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the St. Charles Cemetery in St. Charles, Iowa. Open visitation will be Sunday from 1:00 to 5:00 at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Osceola Lions Club. Online condolences may be directed to the family at kalefuneralhome.com.
