Herb was a man of many passions. Herb's hobbies were as varied as they were numerous. He loved hunting and fishing in his boat. He also spent countless hours working in the rock shop in Apache Junction, Arizona, and never missed an opportunity to attend his son's athletic events. He was an ardent fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the Wartburg Knights.
