William “Bill” Roy Berch passed away February 13, 2024, at the age of 64. Bill was born February 19, 1959, to Martha Mae Peacock-Berch and Roy Lincoln Berch in Winterset Iowa. Bill was the second born and oldest son of 8 children.

Bill moved out west early in life to follow his dreams of living life on the range. Bill attended The University of Idaho, Twin Falls pursing a degree in ranch management. He lived several years throughout the western states, but Battle Mountain was where he called home for the last 20 years.

Bill was a buckaroo through and through. He worked on numerous ranches over the years, being with 25 Ranch for the last 15 years. Bill was known for the hat he always wore, everyone always recognized that hat!

One of Bill’s passions in life was his dogs. He loved working, training, and trading his own breed of dog, which he called the Dessert Collie. He put many years into developing and improving the cattle dog for the average cowboy, it was important to him for cowboys to have biting cowdog at an affordable price. At one point, he had his dogs in every single state of the Union, along with Mexico, Gaum, and Canada.

He also an avid shooter and enjoyed reloading and casting ammunition especially with his brother Ted. Bill was a devoted member of the church and worked hard to keep his temple recommend.

Bill was proceeded in death by his daughter, Sariah Berch, brother Michael Berch, and his parents.

He is survived by his older sister, Dixie Updike and husband Blake of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, brother Steve Berch of Winterset Iowa, sister Debbie Trost and husband Mike of Springdale Arkansas, brother Bob Berch and wife Marilyn of Peru Iowa, brother Ted Berch of Elkins, Arkansas, and sister Deanna Berch of Winterset Iowa and many nieces and nephews. Bill left behind so many friends he considered his family.
