William “Bill” Lemon, 91, of Osceola, died Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at his home in Osceola. A Celebration of Life Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Four Square Gospel Church 224 East Court Avenue in Winterset. Pastor Mark Morehouse will officiate. Visitation with family receiving friends will be 10-11 a.m., prior to service time at Four Square Gospel Church in Winterset. Burial will be at a later date in Hamblin Cemetery near Lorimor. Services will be livestreamed under a link at powersfh.com. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to the family. Online condolences can be given at powersfh.com.
William “Bill” Lee Lemon, son of Leroy Francis Lemon and Dorothy Blossom (Sheldon) Lemon was born December 18, 1932 in Madison County, Ia. Bill graduated from Winterset High School in 1952. He worked at Montross Pharmacy upon graduating. They asked him to stay and become a pharmacist, to which he kindly rejected with the reply, “I’m going to be a farmer.”
On July 30, 1952, Bill was united in marriage to Betty Lou Brobst in Winterset, Ia. They settled in Winterset, Ia. where he worked as a farmer. For a short time, Bill worked in Waukegan, Ill. in an asbestos plant producing building products. They later moved to Norwoodville, Ia. where he worked for 14 years for Frye manufacturing trimming carbon paper, followed by moving to Truro, Ia. where he helped raised pigs and farmed and also as they moved to the Creston area before moving to the Thayer area. Bill finally moved to Osceola in 2015 to be near family.
He loved spending time with family and playing cards. He also spent time outside mowing, picking apples, or whatever he could find to do. One of his favorite past-times was watching his Westerns.
Bill is survived by two sons, William A. Lemon of Osceola, Ia. and Dale Lemon of Delta, Ia.; sister, Dora Hibdon of Lorimor; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Lou; his sons Lee Wayne Lemon in 2019 and Paul Lemon in 2022; three brothers, Joseph F. Lemon, James E. Lemon, and John Lemon; along with a grandson, Jordan Michael Clark Lemon.
