Curt was born October 16, 1941 in a farm house in rural Winterset, Iowa, the son of Walter and Ruth (Fox) Bruett. He attended school in a one-room school house until the eighth grade and graduated from Winterset High School. Curt was united in marriage to Julia Patterson on June 10, 1960 in Truro, Iowa.

Shortly after Curt and Julia’s two sons were born, Curt moved their family to Denver, Colorado where he became an industrial electrician for Shell Chemical. After ten years, Curt made the move to Iowa where he purchased a farm and became a heating and air sales rep for General Electric. Curt designed the heating and air conditioning systems for Merle Hay Mall, Caseys, and Pizza Hut. After work, he would farm. He then worked in Ag sales in Central Iowa. Throughout his sales career, Curt won many trips and awards. He began Magnum Mfg. with Julia, designing and manufacturing grain vacs. The couple later started their own marine business in Boone, Iowa, C & J’s Midwest Marine.

Curt was dedicated to work even as a young child and did not have the opportunity to play sports or enjoy family vacations throughout his school years. Once he started his own family, he was sure to create memories with his children through their involvement in sports, activities and family trips, particularly camping in the mountains and boating at Table Rock Lake. He also enjoyed hunting elk in Colorado and teaching his sons to hunt. After his retirement, he enjoyed fishing with Julia and his grandchildren. Later in retirement, they moved to Winfield where Curt was a member of Spring Run Church.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Julia Bruett of Winfield; children: Rodger (Leslie) Bruett of Kelley; Ron Bruett (Peggy Arneson) of Urbandale; and Sharon (Chris) Robison of Winfield; grandchildren: Jesse (Amanda) Bruett, Samantha Bruett and family, Alexandria Bruett and family, Nicole Bruett, Austin Bruett, Angela Bruett, Clayton Robison (Jacayla Littwiller), Erica (Travis) Friese, and Bryce (Makayla) Robison; great-grandchildren: Paisley Friese and Vivienne Robison; siblings: Darlene Durand of Grinnell, Louise Alexander of Denver, CO, Joan Kuhlman of Sterling, CO, and Leona (Cliff) Huffman of Yuma, AZ; sister-in-law, Susie Bruett of Graham, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Merle Bruett; and three brothers-in-law.
