Frederick A. Crawford was born December 8th, 1818 in Indiana and died of asthma in Creston, Iowa, November 20th, 1900, age eighty-one years, ten months and twelve days.

Mr. Crawford came to Iowa in 1854. He was married three times and the third wife still survives him. He is the father of sixteen children, eleven of whom are living.

He has been a member of the Christian church since 1840, fifty years. He has been deprived of church privileges for several years. He has been a great sufferer with asthma for nearly seven years. He has always been known as strictly honest and upright. “Uncle Fred” as he was familiarly called, was highly respected by all acquainted with him. He died poor in this world’s goods, but rich in treasures laid up in heaven we trust.

His remains were interred in the West Branch cemetery on the west branch in Madison county where one wife and several children are buried. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 8 a.m. by Elder S.L. Emerson.
