Sherry Irene “Beanie” (Longabaugh) Beem, 76, died peacefully on Sept. 5, 2023, in Casa Grande.

Mrs. Beem was born in Nevada, Missouri, in 1947 to Solomon and Helen Longabaugh and moved around frequently, raised by a farmer. She graduated from Winterset High School in Iowa before studying at University of Iowa and eventually worked on the Keossippi Book Mobile. That was the favorite of all of her jobs. She was secretary for Ascension Lutheran Church and then continued to work at Iowa Savings Bank in Coon Rapids.

After relocating to Casa Grande, she became a hospital director of volunteer services in 1987. In 2007, she went on to work at GM Financial until she retired in 2022. She was active in many parts of her community and belonged to such clubs as Zonta, was a board member for Pinal American Red Cross, director of Casa Grande Regional Medical Center Auxiliary, a supporter of United Way, was hands-on for Against Abuse and Home of Hope. She enjoyed board games and dice games such as Bunko and had a deep affection for her “Bunko Babes." She was an avid reader, movie goer, Iowa Hawkeyes fan and a Trekkie by heart.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; a son, Jeremy; two daughters, Regan and Gillian; her four beloved grandchildren, who all reside in Casa Grande; a sister, Kay Clausen; and a brother, Steve Longabaugh. She was preceded in death by her brother Rodney Longabaugh.

A celebration will be held in Casa Grande in her honor on Nov. 11.

She was an Arizona donor for Research for Life and will be interred in Winterset, Iowa, in the near future.
