At 11 o'clock, July 5, 1899, the spirit of Dio Lewis Heald was released from its earthly tenament and returned to the God who gave it. He was born August 17, 1864. On January 19, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Owen, who with their two little daughters, Ina, four years old, and Georgia, almost two, survive him; also his parents Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Heald and one brother, George Heald.

Mr. Heald was a good citizen and his untimely taking away is very much regretted. He was taken sick in Muscatine on April 29, and between that time and the day of his death he was a great sufferer. His uncle and cousin, physicians of South English, came and did what they could for his relief. Dr. Littig and Harriman of Iowa City and Dr. Overholt and Son of Columbus Junction were all summoned to his bedside, but all to no avail. He was a very energetic man and will be greatly missed in Conesville. He was born and raised in West Liberty, and at the age of 22 he united with the Christian church at that place. The funeral was held from the reformed church at 3 o'clock, Thursday afternoon, July 6. Rev. Fouse officiating, and the remains interred in the Brockway cemetery
