Lone Tree, January 10 - On January 3, 1899, the spirit of John Carey wings its flight to the Great Beyond, after along and painful illness of several months. He leaves a father, a mother, two brothers and five sisters and many other relatives and friends. He was never blessed with robust health and when attacked by the prevailing disease, his system was hardly able to withstand its ravage. All that skill of able physicians and the care that loving hands could do failed to avail and death followed as above stated. He was 27 years and 5 months of age, and will be missed and mourned by the many friends among whom he had grown up. Services were held at the Indiana Creek school house, conducted by Rev. Kight of Columbus Junction. He spoke word that were full of comfort to the sorrowing relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Indian creek cemetery, January 6.
