Obituary - A. Bakey was born in Germany, March 12, 1841, and died in Columbus City, August 23, 1898, aged 57 yeas, 5 months and 11 days. He came to America in 1853 locating in Muscatine. Three years he served in the army and in 1864 was married to Eliza J. Erwin. Soon after leaving the army, he went to Cedar county where he made his home for about three years. He next moved to Louisa county, where he continued to reside until the time of his death.

There were nine children born int his family: five of them are living and four have passed away. The funeral services were held at the house Thursday afternoon, August 25th at 2 o'clock, after which the remains were laid away in Columbus City cemetery.
