Conesville, July 12 - The silent messenger death entered the home of Mr. W. C. Northey, at Waterloo, Iowa, at 5 'clock Friday morning and took away his beloved wife. Levina J. McGurdy was born at Coshocton, Ohio on the 8th of June, 1856. There resided until 1866 when she came to Cone, Muscatine county, Iowa. In 1879 she was untied n marriage to W. C. Northey and in 1884 they removed to Woonsocket, South Dakota, and there remained until 18 months ago when they took up their residence in Waterloo.

Formerly she was a member of the Reformed church at this pace and has been a close follower of religion since girlhood. During her long illness and extreme suffering, all of which she bore with the greatest patience and sweetness of spirit and she was never known to complain against the will of God. When the end came she exhibited her willingness to go and was ready, and tried to sing and praise His holy name. she told her friends no to mourn for her but to rejoice with her and that she was saved and soon to be free from pain and the last few hours her face was wreathed in smiles and passed away in a peaceful sleep.

Only one daughter blessed their union, two having died in infancy. At her request she was brought to her father's home at Cone and funeral services conducted by Rev. Fouse at the Reformed church Sunday at 3 p. m. Interment at the Brockway cemetery. she now sleeps beside her mother and babe. She leaves an aged father, one brother, S. D. McCurdy of Des Moines, two sister in Colorado, a loving husband, little Grace, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn her departure.
