Joshua J. Snouffer, 82, Pioneer Resident, Dies
Joshua J. Snouffer, 82, of 115 Seventh street SW, a pioneer resident of Cedar Rapids, died in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, following a brief illness. Born Dec. 31, 1860, in Maryland, he came to Cedar Rapids from there in 1864. He was married to Anna E. Aussieker May 3, 1883, in Cedar Rapids. Mr. Snouffer was with the S. L. Rudolph grocery for many years.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Edward M. and Arthur J. of Cedar Rapids and Charles W. of St. Paul, Minn.; a daughter, Mrs. Claude Elson of Benton Harbor, Mich.; a sister, A. Matilda Snouffer of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son, William D., died in 1935.
Mr. Snouffer was a member of the First Lutheran church and was treasurer of the Sunday school for many years.
