Mary Ellen Wright, 72, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Saturday, April 17, 2021. Family will greet friends

from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 21, at Christ Episcopal Church in Cedar Rapids with limited attendance. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask and practice social distancing. The service will also be livestreamed on the church Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/ChristEpiscopalCR.

Mary was born on Jan. 1, 1949, in New Hampton, Iowa, the daughter of Leon and Florence (Schroeder) Carlson. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1966 and went on to attend the Allen School of Nursing in Waterloo, Iowa. Mary married Jesse Wright Jr., in New Hampton, Iowa, in 1972. She was a nurse in the operating room at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids for over 30 years. Mary loved to play the organ and piano. She enjoyed making Porcelain dolls and doll houses. Mary also found joy in crocheting, sewing, cooking and baking. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family.

Survivors include her children, David (Christina) Wright of Washington state, Adam Wright of Cedar Rapids and Jessica (Derek) McDonough of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Grayson McDonough, Emi and Finley Wright; and her cats, Bonnie and Clyde.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Florence Carlson; and husband, Jesse Wright Jr.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Mary's memory.
