Arnold Eldon Alcott, 86, of Marion, Iowa, passed away peacefully Monday, Feb. 22, 2021, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A prayer service will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A livestream of the prayer service may be accessed on the funeral home website tribute page for Arnold, under "photos and videos or media," starting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 26. A private family inurnment will take place at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion at a later date. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a face mask and practice social distancing. Arnold was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Glenwood, Minn., the son of Herbert and Elsie (Brockberg) Alcott. He graduated from Villard High School in Villard, Minna. Arnold served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On June 23, 1961, at Kenwood Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Constance Kohl. Arnold was an avionics engineer with Rockwell Collins for 55 years, retiring in 2013. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially in the Boundary Waters canoe area. Arnold never missed any of his grandchildren's events. They were his pride and joy. He is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Robin (Dennis) Dullea of Marion; daughter-in-law, Denese Alcott of Hawaii; five grandchildren, Amber (Justin) Hoff of Marion, Rachel (Dalton) Combs of Marion, Haley Dullea of Davenport, Iowa, Kasey (Mike) Fernandez of Oregon and Logan Alcott of Hawaii; eight great-grandchildren, Breanna and Blake Hoff, Rylynn, Michalyn and Oaklyn Combs, and Ezekial, Josiah and Amon Fernandez; sister, Deloris (Marlo) Nelson of Minnesota; and brother, Darrel (Judy) Alcott of Minnesota. Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Constance; son, Randal; and brother, Harold. Memorials in Arnold's memory may be directed to the family for Girls Sports Program at Marion High School and the Dance Marathon at St. Ambrose University.
